Here is my word study on happiness. :)
- Websters 1828 Dictionary
- The agreeable sensations which spring from the enjoyment of good; that
state of a being in which his desires are gratified, by the enjoyment of
pleasure without pain.
- Agreeable: acceptable or delightful. Enjoyment: joy and amusement. Pleasure: bliss, contentment, and gratification.
- We give the name happiness to positive pleasure or an excitement of agreeable sensations.
- Positive: confident or perfect. Excitement: emotion and passion.
- Quotes
- " Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony."
- “Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are
obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose
themselves in the service of others...By and large, I have come to see
that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of
ourselves.”
- "We can feel happiness every day in our lives through little things we
do, and we are fully happy as we keep the commandments of a loving God."
-
Scriptures
- Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness.
- And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin.
If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no
righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness.
And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment
nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is
no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no
creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all
things must have vanished away.
- But
behold, your days of probation are past; ye have procrastinated
the day of your salvation until it is everlastingly too late, and your
destruction is made sure; yea, for ye have sought all the days of your
lives for that which ye could not obtain; and ye have sought for
happiness in doing iniquity, which thing is contrary to the nature of
that righteousness which is in our great and Eternal Head.
- My Personal Definition
- Happiness can be found through service, silence, and the spirit. I
know when I slow down and take the time to do these things, I will be
able to see how I can be happy and how I can help the people around me
to be happy.
- There are many ways to find sadness in this world, it only takes a
glance to see the sorrow all around. Everyone seems to be hurting in
some way or another. Happiness is just as plentiful but not as obvious.
You have to work hard to find the joy in the journey. When am I doing
whats right and helping those around me to see the light, then I can
find the happiness. When I am serving the people around me, I am also
serving God. We will find true happiness in service to others.
- There is so much ciaos all around that is hard to avoid. We often
feel pressured, busy, and tired. There are so many people who are
filling up their life's with more and more hoping to find happiness and
passion somewhere along the way. But when we take time to be silent and
listen we can bring peace into our homes and relationships. Peace is
definitely something that can help you recognize the good and become
happy, I have seen this in my life. It is amazing.
- When Christ was upon the earth He experienced many of the same
things we do. His life was obviously different but He did experience
happiness and sorrow. When I take the time to listen to the spirit I am
blessed to feel the happiness that only God can give. Taking time to
make sure we have the spirit with us is always worth it. When you have
the spirit with you, you are definitely in a place to feel some sort of
happiness and joy.
- When I take the time to be happy I can find more ways to serve, be
silent and feel the spirit. Helping others to find happiness in their
life's can only increase your own happiness.
Wow. This is fantastic! I completely, wholeheartedly agree with you! In order to find that happiness, we should lose ourselves in making others happy! :)
