Pandemonium vs. Beauty
Alright, this song is my create inspirement for tomorrow, it's not exactly my thoughts about beauty, but as I watched the videos and thought about the different ways that art can be defined and whether abstract art really is "art," I thought I could make a song that pushes the limits of what music is. This song includes no recordings at all, every sound is computer generated. I don't even know if you would call it a song, but it's very abstract in that sense. I definitely wasn't going for beauty, I was going for creativity. But it is funny how beauty in music can be defined; I know a lot of people that would consider certain rap songs beautiful when in reality they are just garbage (I'm not dissing on rap as a genre, just on certain songs :D). Anyway, tell me what you think. Sorry, I know this is late.
I can't listen to the song right now because it will wake up my husband so I will comment on it later in the morning, but I thought I would comment on your words. I wondered if you agree or disagree that bauty is "the true end of every art", or that it should be, and why or why not? this might be fun to talk about tomorrow. I look forward to hearing your push-the-limits song in a little while :)

ReplyDeleteThe song was... interesting. Why a phone? I do agree with you, though that beauty is not just interesting. Something that someone may call beautiful may just be interesting or different!
ReplyDeleteI listened to it this morning. Good example of pushing the limits of defining music. Thanks for sharing it!
